The North's Permier Maritime Attraction

Milly's guestbook...

Maureen Hughes, South Australia
Whilst on holiday A friend took me to your maritime museum and we spent a lovely day enjoying everything, we also had a lovely lunch in the restuarant. This museum was not there when I left the UK (a Geordie by birth) in 1966. I bought souvenirs to take back home to Australia which I have on display for everyone to see. You must be very proud of your museum.

My visit to Hartlepool Maritime Museum
We visited the museum when on holiday last year - popped in for a quick browse, several hours later we left! It is brilliant - so much to see - it really brings history to life. We'll be returning for another visit when we come North for our holiday again this year.

Great Day out!
We had a fantastic morning - the lady at the desk as we walked in was extremely informative . . . . .and the lady in costume (big grey wig and a cape with excellent nails!) was brilliant with our 5 month old . . . . . . . . all the staff were brilliant but these stood out. thank you (we came on 17.04.16)

cannon display and staff.
this was our first visit to the museum Monday the 24th august 2015 it was very interesting some displays were very good our favourites were the quayside and the fighting ships and the trincomalee and the cannon and musketry display. I loved that there was some adult costumes/dresses to get dressed up in as you are never too old to dress up haha. can I just add that all members off staff were lovely but we spoke to Richard who was very friendly and full of information about the museum and then we met wendy who was lovely too very helpful. this visit reminded us a lot of beamish as we love beamish. we will definitely come back again and recommend to family and friends so thank you for a lovely day out even better when all staff are dressed up in period costume fab.
Thank you for getting in touch. Richard and Wendy will be over the moon that you enjoyed your visit and we hope you come to visit us again soon!

this was the best day ever
David Perry, Robin Hoods Bay
display of knots in frame in one of the 'shops'
Brilliant place. But;;;;; In one display cabinet of knots you had a hitch labelled as a Clove hitch. But the knot/hitch on the bit of wood was actually a larksfoot/cow hitch - slightly but importantly different.
Thanks for getting in touch David and giving us this information. We are glad you enjoyed your day and we make sure we correct the information board in the exhibition.

family day out
Really good but some of the exhibition s where in French not English and the guns weren't on but the park and the boats were brilliant
Hi William, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. We are looking into expanding on our exhibtion information so your comments are really helpful.
Ian, tring, herts.
Marvellous day out at the Museum last Saturday - we really enjoyed it. The team of (very convincing-looking) pirates gave an interesting demonstration of flintlock weapons, and the 'fighting ships' exhibition is really first rate. Nice lunch in a clean and efficiently run cafe. And all for a very modest entrance fee! Had the Transporter Bridge been in operation - it wasn't - we would have achieved all our objectives in visiting the area.
Hi Ian, I am glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you can come back again soon! From Milly
Julie Bradley, Hartlepool
Wedding ceremony
Hi, we had our wedding ceramony on board HMS Trincomalee on 6 September. It was a fabulous venue and all our guests had a fantastic time. A big thank you to all the staff who were very considerate, helpful and extremely attentive to both the wedding party and our guests. Staff ensured everything went smoothly, thank you all very much.
Hi Julie, Congratulations! I am so pleased you had a lovely day and I wish you a long a happy life together! Love Milly
Brian J Turner, Hartlepool
A first time visit, on holiday, Live in Spain but worked and lived here in the North East for 25 years. Found the Museum very interesting BUT I found a lot of the displays very dim and at times hard to see, which is a shame as a lot of work has gone into the displays. Also looking at the display regarding WW1 there was information regarding the shelling by the German Navy, but nothing that I could see regarding the bombing by an airship and the shooting down by an RFC pilot who was stationed at Greatham, I believe this pilot won the VC for this action, I would have thought that this would have been a very interesting part of Hartlepool's past history. I also found that it was quite awkward to read the information cards because they lay flat, maybe if they could be tilted they might easer to read.
Hi Brian, Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments. We are always looking to improve our service and so your feedback is very helpful and I have passed them to the Museum Manager to look into. From Milly
